Or thought of as a design. It's something familiar as many of us probably have some grandfather that made something like this for his tools but never as a design object. Reminds me of Philippe Starch's citrus juicer that did the opposite , it's beautiful yet useless.

this design attracts mostly because it's combining 2 dissimilar ideas, like a lot of captivating products do. grandfather hanging his tools on this is expected, changing the form of the silverware to fit the vibe is fresh. [no disrespect to gramps lol] also i feel like Starck would have preferred that his juicer worked haha, just called it good after he found a form he liked and didn't wanna start over

Now that you mentioned it I looked it up, apparently it was not his intention for it to work haha. "Itβs not meant to squeeze lemons, it is meant to start conversation" Is this quote real? I dunno, maybe he did say it after he noticed the thing never worked :p I do love it however! Even got the miniature version on my desk :)

wait no way lmaooo. ok i'll eat my shorts, who knows if that was the initial intent, like you said - but i love that so much, start conversation it certainly has. and i also think it's a really compelling object
