I think it's the same for any new technology really. take the internet: you can harness it to create beautiful things, connect with people, build useful tools OR just shitpost, engagement farm, create slop and scroll LinkedIn

yes. I'm generally optimistic about these tools/see no way to put them back in the box. I think the X factor is what you described (a multiplying force on ability) but this isn't something that's de facto good, as some people suck or are genuinely evil. new meta is that some people will just be ridiculous OP.

listening to the recent Hyperlegible ep. with @sariazout I really liked her point that LLMs amplify/compound your existing skills. If you're an incredible coder, designer, writer, artist these tools will act as a multiplying force. But if you're lazy, or unimaginative or arent able to think critically these tools will amplify that
