If you lead, hard conversations come with the job.
When clients want to prepare better, I give them this:

Before your next one, take 5 minutes—15 if you can—to answer these three questions:

1. What’s my goal here? (Direction)

2. What do I need to learn from them? (Empathy dive)

3. If I had to summarize my point in one sentence, what is it? (Takeaway)

It might feel awkward if you’ve never prepped like this before.

Try it. I’m willing to bet you’ll listen better, speak clearer, and leave less unsaid.
