I think 360º assessments are one of the best ways for leaders to get better. If you’re not familiar, it’s structured feedback from the people around you—bosses, peers, direct reports—meant to reveal how your leadership is actually experienced. These can get bloated and expensive fast. So here are my 3 non-negotiables: 1️⃣ Leader goes first. Want someone else on your team to do a 360º? They need to see you do it first. Go first. You put the hay in the barn. 2️⃣ Keep it simple. I start with just 3 questions: – What’s working? – What’s not? – What 3 words describe this person’s leadership? 3️⃣ Pair it with coaching. Feedback without support often leads to confusion or shutdown. A coach helps you absorb, sort, and act. Athletes and artists have used film study for decades. In leadership, this is our version.
