this is really good writing. communication and trust are the most expensive aspects of biz. Very useful to see all these privacy use cases which will make it cheaper in the future.

hi, I love the idea, but I am a little intimidated here. here's a spiel i hope you find useful: I do not like public speaking on topics I am unfamiliar with. Which is why I like to work privately & locally with people I know I can be vulnerable around, until my knowledge compounds. Eventually, my 'worthiness' is validated on a particular topic, and I am comfortable enough with further spread. Ideally, I emerge briefly onto the stage for my quality wisdom, propped up by those around me. It's a reason I struggle with modern social broadcast systems. There's no self-labeling as low quality, mechanisms for privacy, or 'prop-up' mechanisms. Reddit is cool - because we look at content first - on social platforms, we look at identity first - then the content. It is possible I am unclear with the vision here, or out of touch.

every private org should have its own internal social network. for most orgs, they use services such as Microsoft Teams, Slack, Discord For sovereign orgs, they self-host FOSS forum software such as Discourse.

thinking more on how to accomplish this, farcaster is strong because of the network owning powerful products. Farcaster itself is not super powerful (4-10 employees?). However, the fragmentation and lack of consensus on what apps to choose surrounding farcaster prevents a stronger sense of community. If the NS were truly powerful, everyone using farcaster would also be using a related pop up gathering app. And it’d be easy to form these popups. in the current state, we are only aligned on one part of the tech stack here. Therefore, hypothesis is-a network state ideally self-hosts as many products as possible, to centralize power into a singular entity: insodoing, it can more effectively use its network to offer more services, such as a pop up gathering app. -Sort of how microsoft does it. data persists across all apps.

@stringtheory69 speaking of, your post reminds me of an idea i’ve been holding. Along with helping people on food, fitness dimensions - an aspect which would really help people are tech stacks. ‘given our ideals and network, these are the tools we recommend” , ex. a user building a PC can leverage opinions of NS to get best hardware and software configuration, or try out these websites to support other NS members. a similar approach was performed by the FSF, called climbing the ‘freedom ladder’. curious to thoughts on this one

hmm i like it, and look forward to your analysis on industries. it corroborates my thinking with social networks. Whichever protocol or currency enables the most things to be built around it, will have the highest gravity.
