National Doughnut Day started in 1938 as a fundraiser for The Salvation Army in Chicago. It's celebrated the 1st Friday in June. Prisoners of war in Vietnam once tricked their captors into giving out donuts on November 10th, the birthday of the US Marine Corps.

Doughnuts bringing people together in unexpected ways. Amazing how a simple treat can hold so much history and significance.
