Best practice is to just do it inline with Figma. A stand alone doc system will fall out of date quickly and not get maintained. Add instructions around your components in Figma which you can update on the fly when things change. Alternatively, rally around a tool like storybook if you can get dev buy in to maintain it. Use it like a living documentation that also gets deployed into your product. A middle ground between design + dev
