yikes, that seems low for the autograph alone—let alone the cost of the typewriter. (I’d hate to clean it, for fear of losing the signature ink)

Those correction carts are in LOW supply. So maybe it’s best used sparingly anyways

yeah this one has a correction cartridge too but i have to manually swap it in and out with the ink one and i'm too lazy to do that x_x

Yeah, it sounds like you probably could do with a new platen it shouldn’t strike too hard. 
— that will cost $100 any day. There is only one company doing that in the entire United States. 

what they’ll do is they’ll strip the rubber off of your current platen  and then re lathe new rubber onto the platen

maybe i'm calling it the wrong thing--the backing sheet?? i feel like the strike of this typewriter is insanely strong (it almost embosses the paper!!) and maybe something softer behind the paper will cushion it??

i have bought 3 extra cartridges off ebay already b/c i was worried i won't be able to find them again

i do have a manual and what i need is attention span XD

You know, I am not aware of what a platen sheet is— is your platen splitting? Or cracked? 

ribbon is fairly easy to source. I know we have a few running machines like yours at the shop. I’ll make you a video tomorrow. 

Do you have a manual for your machine? I can check our library as well, and see if we’ve scanned one in.
