Why can’t you believe it? They’ve been massaging composting into the city for years (at least providing public composting bins before mandating this) and we need to do something with our waste

i applaud the effort, but i worry about people getting fined for whom this is a challenge to comply with regularly (i.e. mom with a kids and literally no extra space for another bin or room in their freezer)

Sure, there will always be challenges with public policy, but that doesn’t mean the program is bad. I dont know if this will be a success, and i like carrots over sticks, usually, but leverage is leverage and after a few months of this without fines and super low participation I can understand it. I have a small apartment (tiny kitchen) and live in a walk up, but getting a tiny compost bin to for my counter has been a simple enough solution to comply and that level of individual participation is kind of requires for civics to work, right?
