Do you miss a more thoughtful, social-first Farcaster? A place with a curated feed of the best writing and ideas, where you can slow down, go deeper, and stay closely connected to the people you actually care about? I'm building Sopha for wisdom and comfort. A place for deep social, deep thoughts, deep connections. A place for nerding out, for thinking about society, about how to live well, a place for art and beauty and science and philosophy. A place for people who want to visit the coffee shop or the bookstore rather than the casino. I'm not designing it to be your main client - though I'm sure for some people it will be - I'm designing it to be a place to slow down a little to go deeper and be more intentional. I've been talking about it for a few weeks now, and it's almost time to start opening up. Follow @sopha for updates and access to the web app tomorrow. In the meantime install the mini-app sopha.social π¦ποΈ

Love our on the @sopha calls. Great to have @statuette there along with regulars @bfg @jonathancolton and @arjantupan π¦π¨π π ππ₯π¬ π¦π’π£ππ: π’π₯ππππ‘π¦, ππ¨π₯π₯ππ‘π§ π¦π§ππ§π, ππ‘π ππ’π₯π π£π¨π₯π£π’π¦π @chriscocreated explained its origins as a reaction to the overwhelming amount of noise (shitcoin discussions, trading) on Farcaster, wanting a space for deep, curated content. Initially built as a "vibe coding" project in November of the previous year with a small Purple grant for infrastructure, Sopha is now a functioning web app, miniapp and snap with a curated feed maintained by about ten active curators. The vision is not to be a primary daily client but a "third space" or "front room" between the home (private) and the busy high street (public feed). The feed currently focuses on long-form, substantive content, and the community call serves as a parallel exploration of ideas around Farcaster and crypto. ππ«π£ππ’π₯ππ‘π π£π₯π’ππ¨ππ§ ππππ‘π§ππ§π¬: ππππ, ππ’π π π¨π‘ππ§π¬ πππ‘π§ππ₯, π’π₯ ππ₯π§ πππ‘π§ππ₯? A significant portion of the discussion revolved around the question posed by a builder: "What is the shape of the product?" The group debated whether Sopha is a client, a magazine, a feed, or something more abstract. The creator sees it as a community or art center for Farcaster-a space for co-creation and plural expression, not a product-driven tool. One participant likened it to Benjamin Franklin's "junto" (a mutual improvement society) that spawned public goods like libraries and fire departments, suggesting Sopha could similarly generate value beyond its feed. Others argued that the exploratory, undefined nature is precisely what makes it interesting and valuable, resisting pressure from product-focused builders to "pick a lane." The concept of "winning" was questioned, with one participant defining success as the moments of cross-pollination and deep connection that happen in the community, not as a business metric. ππ‘π§πππ₯ππ§ππ’π‘ πͺππ§π π€π¨π’π₯π¨π ππ‘π π§ππ ππ¨π§π¨π₯π π’π ππ’π π π¨π‘ππ§π¬ ππ‘ππ₯ππ¦π§π₯π¨ππ§π¨π₯π The group conducted a live demo of Quorum, a Farcaster client with spaces and channels features, creating a "Sophistas" space and exploring its capabilities (text channels, video calls, groups). This sparked a discussion on how Sophaβs curation model could integrate with platforms like Quorum or Hypersnap. One participant strongly advocated for Sopha to be implemented at the protocol level on Farcaster, allowing any channel to benefit from trust-based curation. The idea of mirroring Sopha feeds into Quorum spaces was proposed to reach different audiences and reduce duplication of effort. The group noted that Quorumβs rapid development and privacy-focused approach align with Sophaβs ethos, but the lack of clear integration paths remains a challenge. π§ππ π©πππ¨π π’π π§π₯π¨π¦π§ ππ‘π ππ¨π₯ππ§ππ’π‘ ππ‘ ππ‘ πππ π’π ππ π¦ππ’π£ The conversation highlighted a growing need for trusted, intimate online spaces where users can escape algorithmic noise and corporate agenda. One participant shared a personal example of finding a jazz channel on Farcaster that created belonging and stickiness. They emphasized that people trust individuals (like a known handle) over brands, and that Sophaβs curation by trusted community members provides a antidote to the flood of AI-generated and corporate content. The group agreed that the future of the internet will involve more decentralized, cozy corners where distribution happens through trusted relationships rather than broad feeds. π’π§πππ₯ π£π₯π’ππππ§π¦: ππ’π¨π‘πππ₯ πππππ ππ‘π π§ππ πππ₯πππ‘ π£π₯π’ππππ§ @jonathancolton introduced their app "Founder Check," a tool that uses an AI reasoning agent to help builders articulate their product idea across four pillars (who, what, channel, friction/monetization) and score their clarity. The tool is designed to be like "Duolingo for founders," improving coherence through iterative negotiation with the agent. The creator recently liberated it from Farcaster to gather data from outside the ecosystem. @statuette shared their project, "The Garden Project," aimed at aggregating fragmented community protocols into an end-to-end platform for ecosystems to grow builders and creators. This led to a discussion on data security and legal disclaimers, with advice to include terms and conditions to protect against potential IP leakage claims, especially when seeking grants from compliance-heavy organizations like Coinbase. π₯ππππππ§ππ’π‘π¦ π’π‘ πππ₯πππ¦π§ππ₯ πππ’π¦π¬π¦π§ππ ππ‘π ππ¨πππππ₯ π¦π¨π£π£π’π₯π§ The group discussed the challenges of building on Farcaster, noting that the platform's user base remains small and that many builders struggle with go-to-market skills. One participant observed that the initial "innovator" users have churned out, and that the ecosystem has not yet reached mainstream adoption. The conversation touched on Base's strategic shift away from community values, with one former Base team member explaining their departure due to misalignment with the new direction. The need for better support structures-like automated tools to help builders find grants, validate ideas, and connect with ecosystems-was emphasized, with Founder Check positioned as a potential solution for decentralized builder support.
