Also for me it's kinda thrilling after years here to bump into someone new who's thinking the same way. FC isn't as small as it sometimes feels. One of the benefits of human signal over the algo bubble. 𝗧𝗟;𝗗𝗥: Farcaster isn’t “dead” — it was never meant to be X. It’s valuable 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 it stays niche, high-signal, and oriented around real relationships + serious creative work, not scale and virality. 𝗞𝗘𝗬 𝗣𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗦 • The author intentionally stopped “marketing/shilling” and focused on finding a durable social home for their art. • People arguing “Farcaster is dead” vs “it’ll never be X” are fighting over projections and narratives, not reality. • Their core goal is 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲: meaningful relationships, thoughtful conversation, and a culture where making things matters. • They care about Farcaster because it offers 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 — after being arbitrarily suspended on X with no recourse, they don’t want a single platform to be able to erase them again. • Farcaster felt different: less toxicity, more builders/creators helping each other, deeper engagement, actual friendships. • The Merkle → Neynar stewardship handoff reads to them as 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗺, not doom: a reset toward helping people turn ideas into sustainable income (including artists/writers/musicians), with crypto as 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 not identity. • The “builders vs creators” label debate is pointless — what matters is whether the network supports serious work without turning it into engagement sludge. • Farcaster being “the most successful subreddit of all time” is framed as a 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨: a high-signal niche that compounds depth, not breadth. • They explicitly 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 if it means importing outrage/performative behaviour — slow, intentional growth is the only kind they value. • Personally, Farcaster is the only social network that doesn’t feel like a nervous-system assault — and if it becomes an outrage casino, they’ll quietly leave.
