I have a coursemate who insists on hugging me every time we see each other, but I'm really not comfortable with physical touch, especially hugging. I'm trying to figure out how to let her know that I'd prefer not to hug without hurting her feelings or making things awkward.

I think you should just tell her exactly how you feel, since you're not comfortable with it
