Rick Rubin is a guy who goes full vibe with everything. He vibe produces, vibe interviews, and vibe writes. Not a single concern for any outcome in the process. He just vibes away doing whatever the hell he wants. His life is a continuous act of unwavering faith.

And it works.

His book is a bit controversial for me. Rubin began his career producing highly commercial music, which was widely embraced. Therefore, advocating for art that disregards audience seems inconsistent with Rubin’s own professional history. But I do think the way he approaches creativity is brilliant and works for him and the artist he has worked with.

I don’t believe his audience is creative people. I think his audience is people who aren’t creative, for whom creativity is novel
