The more generationally older I get, the more this coupled with other childhood education practices from 90-00s grow more alien. “Welcome to 7th grade, we no longer let you outside as a part of childhood development, except in 45 minute Gym class sometimes which is specific sports with letter grades based on how good you are, but will also be coupled with getting nude and showering with your peers while old teachers watch closer than your parents watched you as a toddler in the tub, then at same time run scoliosis screenings like they’re an audition panel— but don’t be late to next class you have 3 minutes to get there or detention at the bell so keep your head down and just get through it.” and more or less up through grade 12 graduation. I probably sound like a time capsule. Is any of that kosher in 2025? The turn of the century still had some wild practices with schools. PE should have been more focused on living healthier in our own bodies, not on feeding the pre-sports scholarship system.
