Feel like we don’t hear much from Biden since he dropped out of the presidential race? The problem is he’s still the president and he’s overseeing potentially grave and disastrous events on his watch. The admission that Biden is not capable of running for office also contained the obvious implication that he’s not capable of holding that same office at the moment. It’s reasonable to ask who is really in charge right now and what role his various advisors are playing. My fear is that he is merely a figurehead at this point being controlled by individuals in power around him acting as de facto powers behind the throne. Some of these people may have their own agendas that the American people may not be aware of, or agree with. In our fervor over the next election we’re neglecting the fact he’s still in power for five more months, during which the entire world could potentially change.

> My fear is that he is merely a figurehead at this point being controlled by individuals in power around him i feel the idea of assembling a cabinet and various appointees is that you... TRUST them to run the world according to their viewpoint and value system. i say a lot, "we don't just elect a president, we elect an administration." so... what if "the individuals in power around him" are... trustworthy? or, at the very least, aligned. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i'm just saying i don't see "Biden is incapable of being president right now" as a hugely valid argument simply because i feel he's been a very effective president on the legislative front (generally speaking) and i fully acknowledge that such a thing is herculean—and not solo—effort. running the country must be hard, but i feel like Biden probably has outstanding muscle memory for politics and is certainly aware of the burden of his role as president.

that said, i do absolutely believe there's a cognitive functioning-based reason he hasn't been doing press conferences.
