i knew it was reductive when i wrote it (i wasn't trying to be fair, optimistic, or hopeful) but i've come up with a lot of counterarguments and caveats to this. but tbh i'd still rather opt out entirely.

social media isn't necessary. for anything. it's a luxury and a distraction. it harms us in ways we can't see. it steals our time, our energy, our focus. who am I even talking to? time to log off.
