Live the same

Christianity says God is love. Islam says Allah is most merciful.
So why do we treat love between us like a crime?
If God is love, why does loving someone of another faith feel like disobedience?
And if Allah is most merciful, why are those of other religions so often seen as enemies? Cant we just co exist ?
