https://farcaster.xyz/dwr.eth/0x478c264d > When asking why people aren't inviting their friends to Farcaster, the overwhelming reason is they spend most of their time on TikTok / Instagram / YouTube (no X / Twitter). 1. If those friends spend most of their time on TikTok/IG or YouTube, are they going to find compelling content on Farcaster? IIRC Snapchat Spotlight struggled hard with getting a critical mass of video-content-for-normal-people, huge creator incentives and it still didn't work very well (considering I never hear Spotlight mentioned as a platform in these discussions). Even IG Reels was trash for a long time while they dialed in their algorithm + video content, and they were starting from a much better base. X generally seems like the closest comp, and it's full of garbage reposts from the other platforms (as well as obvious algo bait... Feels like every other month I start seeing people literally dying on video and I have to block a new wave of accounts) 2. Is there even an incentive to invite your friends? - Do you get social clout from [providing value] by getting them on Farcaster? - Is there some novel, desirable form of consumption that they will enjoy? - Or can you do something *with* them on Farcaster that you can't do anywhere else? I don't see clear answers for these, but tbh sports betting seems like a promising direction. It's a good segue from crypto-gamblers -> normie gamblers -> normal people, and has a lot of cool UX opportunity w/ crypto rails 3. I'm curious what niches the "investment" in video is going to target. 4. I have tons of respect what the Farcaster team has built so far. Building a social platform from scratch seems insanely hard and I admire their execution
