Alex Van de Sande, on behalf of the Ethereum Foundation, creates  the Tip Jar to fund development and community initiatives. 

Each donation of 2.014 ETH to the Tip Jar is rewarded with a rare Unicorn 🦄 token.

Ethereum linked the donation on the website and began accepting donations.

There are 2,717 Unciorns in existence as of this post. Though about half of those Unicorns are held by either Alex Van de Sande or ShapeShift, both of which likely did not acquire them from donations.

The Unicorn Grinder - Mar 24, 2016

Alex Van de Sande creates the Unicorn Meat Grinder Association  contract (a DAO), allowing Unicorn holders to grind Unicorns 🦄 for new Unicorn Meat 🍖 tokens.

The DAO allows holders to create proposals, vote, and execute them.
