Why Wombats Poop Cubes 😁😁

Wombats are the only mammals that produce cube-shaped poop—and there’s a clever biological reason why. Their intestines vary in stiffness around the wall—two stiff regions and two more flexible ones—which, combined with slow, rhythmic contractions and an extended drying process (up to four days), sculpt their feces into neat little cubes. These stackable droppings make excellent territorial markers, preventing them from rolling away on the uneven terrain of their burrowed homes.
