I’m curious, are they teaching AI in class? I’m assuming you guys are learning how to leverage AI right off the bat right?

The blockchain courses were very pro-AI - Professor Viswanath's TAs even fine-tuned models to help with course questions. Some of the other 300 and 400 level courses encourage students to play around with LLMs as well The core CS courses though, not so much

I believe core computer science concepts like data structures and algorithms are incredibly valuable because they offer mental models for problem solving. At the same time, mastering LLMs and AI is becoming essential to stay competitive. AI is a powerful tool - the most powerful one I've used in my 10 year "career". And these models are improving rapidly, so the better you understand how to use them, the more effective you’ll be.

As a side note, what do you think is missing from most college courses, based on what we’ve learned in the industry? If I wanted to help students today, what practical knowledge or perspective could I offer that you think they’re not getting in school?

Definitely agree with you on the core courses - I was lucky enough to have Bob Tarjan as my algorithms preceptor, great experience. Think students need to do things the hard way first, makes vibe coding a hell of a lot easier

I'd say students are really missing real-world experience It's easy to get caught up in the academic bubble and feel sucker punched when you have to adapt to how you develop software / other tech in the real world They offer a few entrepreneurship-ish courses to help mitigate this, to varying degrees of success
