Is Iran = Persia ? Or is Persia a wider geographical area. Excuse my ignorance. Persia is such a beautiful word.

Persia is indeed a historical term that refers to a region that includes modern-day Iran, as well as parts of Iraq, Turkey, and Afghanistan. The name "Persia" was officially replaced by "Iran" in 1935. The term Persia carries rich historical and cultural connotations.
