farcaster should be absolutely killing rn. everyone is sick of the twitter algo. we need more outreach and storytelling: “fc is the heir to intellectual twitter” is a fine pitch for summer 2025

correct, but i think x has turned into quite the cesspool. ai slop replies. kaito yaps. the people i followed have all bifurcated to threads/bluesky/mastodon. its a lot quieter on my following feed now. then again, i've been there since march 2007... i actually prefer fc way more

it's a bit apples and oranges imo, comparing the active user #s on threads alone will tell you why fc is not in any position to "strike" (and i say this out of love, not malice)

personally think the more interesting route as a protocol, not as a single client app/network, can be to open up fid creation & authentication (sign in with farcaster) and pursue a wordpress type of environment where communies can then build their own sub social networks/content hubs, so almost federated in a way, but not just as twitter clones

again, i'm pretty ride or die fc, but this grand playa app is too big for us OGs but too small to take on X or even threads at their own games

aye. definitely not an either/or decision. i hope we find more "new" content here in time.

i however believe in the idea of "strike while the iron is hot". this is why i firmly believe that the time to hit x is now. threads got dm's now for example, and the dau's are going up, up, up. some of that split can also come here

don't get me wrong, i like being on fc! but i'd be remiss to say we're not seeing the same behaviors happening here

though i'm relatively late and much less active on twitter, i still find it superior for finding "new" content (news, alpha, memes, etc.) and don't really think it needs to be an either/or decision
