My fave guru once said that laughter and gratitude are two guaranteed ways to "let the light in". I've struggled with gratitude for most of my life because so much of it was forced with commands of "Be grateful!" But laughter, I can do. Even a little giggle can raise the vibration in our bodies. Laugh more! 🫶

gratitude for me is equivalent to being present. presence comes from appreciating and acknowledging the moment you are in. you need to understand the moment's value and rarity. which in turn feeds into being grateful. how can I not be grateful for the life I have if I know that it is so precious and rare?

understanding gratitude as a way of appreciating your belongings or people didn't work for me either. well, I want to have a better item or want to be with better people. why even bother be limited with what I already have then to pursue what I can have?

but if you think about it as being present, you start to see the beauty of everything around you. you see people's characters and motivations and accept them as who they are. you see your belongings, your money, your career and appreciate the life you live.
