Anyone got a good list of food recommendations for Singapore? 🇸🇬 Heading there this weekend for the next week and will be staying Central/Chinatown.

Some suggested dishes you can try at most hawker centres (the larger ones are Chinatown, Amoy Street, Maxwell, Old Airport Road, all accessible by the metro/MRT): Hainanese chicken rice (steamed chicken over chicken flavoured rice—strong umami flavours, a classic, universally-lovable dish; Tian Tian Chicken Rice at Maxwell hawker centre is the famous one, often having long queues) Fried Hokkien mee (seafood-flavoured noodles cooked with prawns, squids, pork lard—my personal favourite Singaporean dish due to the rich, seafood flavours) Char kway teow (flat rice noodles deep-fried with cockles, Chinese sausage, and egg—a very decadent dish) Laksa (noodles in a coconut curry soup) Satay (spiced/marinated meat skewers often served with peanut sauce—common meats are chicken or mutton; people usually eat them with cucumbers, onions and rice cakes called "ketupats") (Continued below)

Roti prata (flatbread dish originating from Indian immigrants to Southeast Asia; usually eaten with various types of curries—oily, but very tasty!) Bak kut teh (pork ribs in a clear, peppery soup) Sambal stingray (grilled/barbecued stingray with sambal paste, a type of chili paste made from shrimp paste and other ingredients—not available everywhere, but if you seen it, you should try it as I think it is one of our more unique dishes that you can probably only find in Singapore and Malaysia)
