It’s the weekend, so time for another one of my “Landscape Stories”—a photograph accompanied with a creative narrative.
This story emphasizes how a description can completely change how you perceive the photograph: By itself, you likely see a beautiful, golden afternoon light glowing on a calm sea.
But when you read the narrative, you’re encouraged to look beyond the surface value. Suddenly you see a scene where the landscape objects morph into the classic struggle of predator and prey…
FOG WAVE
In the heavy golden afternoon light
Where the stillness polishes the sea into a bronze mirror
The little island sits, blissfully unaware
Of the wall of blue fog
Creeping, advancing on its prey
Hungry enough to swallow the land
In a single frigid gulp
