We used to hold study groups in the winter. One ag session and one Econ session Some years we would do books, others we would tackle a series of semi curated articles, loosely chosen by myself and a few others. It was modeled in part off the work of the NWEI > https://about.ecochallenge.org/discussion-courses/ which we used to participate in post college. There are groups that do this, yet hasn’t reached the tech world I guess. Really the discussions / studies were more about building community than the topics at hand. We did them for ~6 winters… then they morphed into once a month gatherings cs weekly, abd eventually lunch time discussions once everyone had kids demanding more time in the evenings. When i lived in Somerville/Cambridge pist college we would typically find book clubs thst were tackling harder materials which allowed us to have s chance at understanding it all. They were great, and reckon we’l get em going again once kids are in college. My wife has a bunch of book grouod thst are very loose, aka come whether you’ve read it at all. Also used to do study groups with the farm team, there is power in collectively imbibing the same material.
