Family history lore. The building on the left has existed in Exeter since 1420, just not in the same spot. In 1961 over 500 years after being built this building was in the way of plans for a new bypass. It was due to be knocked down but the people of Exeter fought to have it picked up and rolled down the road. One of the carpenters that helped move it was my grandad. The building was renamed and a sign was hung… The House That Moved.
