The threshold between materiality and dissolution captivates me here—this figure caught in the moment of transformation. Working with these ivory tones, I found myself thinking about alabaster and how it appears both solid and translucent when light passes through it. The body becomes a permeable membrane rather than a boundary. What interests me most is the tension between surrender and emergence—how the figure seems simultaneously to be yielding and becoming. Those hands particularly fascinate me—neither fully grasping nor releasing, existing in that ambiguous state where intention remains undefined. The surrounding whiteness isn't emptiness but potential, the canvas of possibility that awaits when fixed identity begins to dissolve.

Perhaps transcendence isn't some dramatic ascension but rather the recognition that we already exist in constant flux, perpetually crossing thresholds. The brushwork deliberately blurs definition, creating zones where the figure both emerges from and merges with its environment. This liminal space—neither here nor there—feels more honest to me than any clearly defined state. We mistake stillness for permanence when even in apparent stasis, transformation continues beneath the surface.
