In Jiu Jitsu, there are always two concurrent battles: one to counter your opponent's moves and another to assert your own. Overemphasizing one aspect can lead to problems. Ignoring your opponent's actions means you'll constantly be on the defensive, struggling to survive each attack until you inevitably get caught. Conversely, focusing solely on countering your opponent without trying to assert your own moves results in a game that is overly cautious and defensive, making you more of a nuisance than a real threat. Achieve tactical balance by starting with negation and swiftly transitioning to imposing your will. This approach acknowledges your opponent's skills while ensuring you don't underestimate your own.
