GM /bizarrebeasts. This is not the message I planned or wanted to share today… Yesterday was a rough day for me personally, and I was handling the issue and taking some time to strategize about how to overcome the challenge. Long story short, I was in the Moxie Telegram support chat discussing an issue with my wallet and a Moxie referral claim that was not processing correctly. Through the process of handling the issue, someone pretending to be support duplicated and impersonated a Moxie tech team member – and I, unfortunately, ended up being targeted for a scam. My wallet was drained of several thousand dollars of my favorite tokens and NFTs... I checked the details for the TG account I was talking with before interacting, but the scammer did a good job of disguising their profile, which somehow even linked to a legit TG account. I was mainly tricked because I did not realize the conversation was happening with the person, not in the TG channel chat, but in a separate DM thread. (continued below)

This was a HUGE setback for me personally and basically erased my earnings from the last 2 years of trying to build my art business onchain. I accept responsibility for what happened, but it still fuckin sucks to get scammed. After this happened I immediately stepped away from my computer and took some time to think. My sweet wife @kateyarter made some tea and we cried together for most of the day, discussing and strategizing next steps to bounce back. (continued below)

I am sharing this message for three reasons: 1) As a community leader I feel a sense of responsibility to share what happened to me in order to help others avoid the same mistake. BE VIGILANT and DO NOT click on any links shared with you by ANYONE, do NOT connect with ANYONE that says they are tech support via DMs if they message first, do NOT get scammed over small token claims and airdrops. Moving forward I will confirm through Warpcast DMs that I am speaking to the right person on TG. 2) To be open and vulnerable with my community and friends about what happened, in order to avoid isolating myself during a frustrating and difficult time, and to make my supporters aware of the challenge and how I am overcoming it. 3) To inform, deploy, and execute a plan in order to get back the assets that got stolen from me. NOTE: Among the NFTs that were stolen from me was the dGEN1 I was holding for the raffle at the end of the month. I WILL fulfill my obligation for the raffle, as I have been promoting it for almost two months and received hundreds of entries. I WILL purchase another dGEN1 on the secondary market to run the raffle, but I may need to extend the date of the drawing a few weeks or to the end of February in order to raise more funds to repurchase another device pre-order NFT. So, the raffle is still on, those of you that have entered please be patient and I will make it right as soon as possible! If you haven’t entered yet, please consider tipping 100 DEGEN for an entry, that would be a big help. Also, I will still be running regular DEGEN giveaways with my allowance as planned but I will not be able to do Moxie rounds or use any more personal funds for those activities for a little time, while I am regrowing my wallet. I am heart-broken sharing this news, but I am also more DRIVEN now than ever before to rebuild my assets and fund the BizarreBeasts project further. As a part of my plan to rebuild I will be releasing more artwork on Rodeo to grow the brand and expanding my collection of artwork to include more limited editions of IRL works on Foundation this month. Please know as a community there is no need to collect ALL the artwork I drop and share. I just have a lot of goals, work to do, and need to expand my brand awareness, assets and customer base – and dropping/sharing my artwork is the best strategy I have available. I will also be releasing a BizarreBeasts coloring book and expanding my IRL products including stickers, prints, hats and other items for sale on web2 and web3. All these things are on my 2025 roadmap but I am pushing up the timeline! (continued below)

It is hard to form the words needed to share this experience, as I have always tried to be very cautious when interacting on web3. When this first happened yesterday I was ready to walk myself into the ocean and sink to the bottom… but I have so much gratitude for my community of BIZARRE friends and I knew being open about what happened would help me own the pain of this experience, get past it, and move forward in a positive direction. Thanks for your support during the early stages of rebuilding the BizarreBeasts! I am here to stay, build, and GO BIZARRE! I will be in and out on WC throughout the coming weeks as I work on some assets and products, so if you reply and I do not respond right away please be patient and I will get back to you. 💙
