in 2012, when I was 23 years old, I had just separated from federal service and had a thrift savings plan retirement account I could no longer contribute to i walked over to my wife’s classroom and proposed that we cash it out and put it entirely into bitcoin, with the argument that at that point in time it was evident that people couldn’t really “make it” the way our parents did anymore by contributing to retirement accounts over the years as two teachers specifically, I said we have to swing for the fences and go for the home run - worst case scenario, we lose it all but have the majority of our working life to make it back, best case scenario, we become rich - the r/r was too good to pass up she didn’t even hesitate and completely agreed and to this day I credit her willingness to do that for where our family is just as much as I do my own time and effort that I still spend here this essay is worth a read, it kind of puts a name to that whole idea we executed 13 years ago https://www.scimitar.capital/p/the-jackpot-age
