I assumed (but have not checked or researched) that you could mark something deleted, and the clients just agree to not show it. But it would still be on the protocol. Also, evidently storage can run out, but I don't know what prunes or cleans up the content. similar to hard drives - content is just marked deleted until overwritten, even when it's overwritten with nonsense or zeroes.
