"Arbitrum Everywhere" explained
in this post i'll explain the "Arbitrum Everywhere" mantra and how arbitrum currently operates as a platform with the end goal to be a digital sovereign nation.

let's dive in!
the "barbell" approach šļø
a common misconception about arbitrum today is that it's "just an L2" rather than a full-fledged "platform"
today, no other ecosystem in crypto simultaneously offers a top 5 flagship chain (by teams deployed/active liquidity) + top 5 flagship stack:
on one end of the barbell is arbitrum one:
- if a team needs access to instant liquidity with connections to the most vibrant DeFi ecosystem in crypto, while prioritizing performance and decentralization - launching here is a no brainer. āļø
on the other end of the barbell are arbitrum chains:
- if a team need's their own execution environment with custom features like increased throughput, custom gas tokens, different development languages, etc then there is no better option. āļøāļøāļø
the point is, if you're building anything - arbitrum as a platform can fit any of your needs b/c of all the optionality for development environments, the customization of the tech, and the ample amount of liquidity readily available - whether your choose to launch your own arbitrum chain or on arbitrum one.
but how does arbitrum go from just a platform to a digital sovereign nation?
dissecting a "digital sovereign nation" š
the below two points are unique to arbitrum and is foundational in allowing arbitrum to become the largest digital sovereign nation.
1ā£ token holders (the DAO) has the highest authority over its assets (the DAO Treasury and protocol upgrades).
2ā£ arbitrum's natural resources and wealth (i.e. blockspace and custom execution environments) allow it to bootstrap an economy that can support its constituents and stakeholders.
so knowing the above, to go from a platform to a digital sovereign nation, the goal is simple...
introduce more revenue generators and put resources to work - all while these resources remain under control of its token holders.
for the arbitrum DAO:
šø revenue generators currently include
- timeboost
- transaction fees on arb one (swaps/defi activity)
- fees from other arbitrum chains not on arbitrum one
š resources currently include
- tokens in its treasury (mainly ARB)
- ETH holdings from the above generators
- RWA holdings from STEP programs
so to become the biggest digital sovereign nation the following must continue to happen...
1ā£ generate revenue through the arbitrum platform (timeboost/fees) -> 2ā£ build up resources within the DAO treasury in ARB, ETH, RWAs -> 3ā£ reinvest treasury funds into sustainable ventures (AGV, STEP, etc) that bring revenue back to the DAO and sustainably grow the ecosystem
completing the flywheel ā©ļø
arbitrum as a platform is literally everywhere and is used for its credible neutrality
- one of the biggest L2s ontop of ethereum
- many L3s ontop of other L2s (@base, @berachain, etc)
- a source of liquidity for other chains like @hyperliquidx
- settlement hub for Tether's USDT0
- a home base for @graphprotocol and Livepeer
arbitrum literally being in all these different places, with more to come, opens up these economic zones of opportunity that can potentially generate more revenue for the DAO and feed into the flywheel of growing arbitrum as a platform to become the biggest digital sovereign nation
