This afternoon, I ran one of my weakest AI training sessions for Build First.
What went wrong:
- I didn't help people self-select into what THEIR ideal entry point to AI building would be
- I didn't guide people toward identifying a specific problem ahead of time
- I let too much energy drift in solo time and wasn't there when people needed help
The result? Nobody ended up with anything real to demo.
Um... YIKES.
Turned it into some real-time lessons on the spot:
1. Learning how to think like a developer is learning how to debug and work around problems.
2. Starting with a smaller problem isn't lack of ambition, it's constrained competence-building.
3. If you can't answer WHY you are trying to build something or what behavior you will change after you succeed, then you probably shouldn't build that thing.
Overall a great opportunity for me to refine the pitch, and a good reminder that teaching is hard work. Me and my AI's are on it as we speak...
