just lost a deal to run a company-wide corporate AI hackathon that I'd been getting jerked around by for months but it was a great lesson in decision-making qualification
- first i had to win over the external events manager
- then i had to win over the chief of staff (who agreed verbally)
- then they hired a new CTO and had to meet him (who also agreed verbally - led to create a SOW, which was never signed)
- then i found out the CEO wanted to get involved and changed direction
i backed away, suggesting that if I couldn't talk with the CEO directly, it wasn't going to happen. i gave a 48-hour expiry notice.
got the rejection today that they are moving a different direction
turns out that they decided to find a facilitator to help them build AI tools to manage their INTERPERSONAL issues first
COULD HAVE SEEN THAT COMING!
