What's a controversial issue on which the average person who disagrees with you has better moral character than the average person who agrees with you?

I’m a proud gay married man, and I believe deeply in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights. But if I’m honest, I’ve met people who oppose parts of that fight—not out of hate, but because they’re trying to live with integrity according to their faith. Some of them wrestle with these issues quietly, sincerely, and with a sense of moral responsibility that I respect, even if I strongly disagree. Meanwhile, I’ve also seen people on my side be quick to label or mock without trying to understand. I’ll always stand for equality—but I’ve learned not to assume moral superiority just because someone disagrees with me.

Thank you for sharing so openly dear Jason, it’s much appreciated and needed! It’s difficult to live an authentic life in some places, but it’s the only way ❤️❤️❤️

i have a friend like that too, someone I disagree with on some deeply personal issues, but I’ve seen their sincerity and the way they struggle with their beliefs out of genuine conviction, not hate. it really humbled me and taught me not to assume moral superiority just because we don’t see things the same way
