“if you go at the king, you best not miss” is wrong sometimes i.e. if you’re looking to set yourself apart... taking a run at a prominent person/company can be super useful if done correctly + downside risk is low

I think the initial statement implies there is no after. It’s winner take all. Death to the loser. 

But other than that I agree. Sometimes punching above your weight can def work in your favor. Even after a loss.

e.g. a politician making a name for themselves running against a famous incumbent that loses but then walks away with way more social capital after the race
