Weekly rewards are meant to support creators who spend their time and energy creating engaging content on Farcaster. 

We've seen some accounts try to trick the algo by coordinating engagement, and redirect rewards towards low effort or uninteresting content. We're making changes to fix this. 

1. The algo will reward diverse weekly engagement. If you get two likes from different people, they'll give you more points than two likes from the same person.

2. The algo may reduce or eliminate points from some accounts based on heuristics (engaging with spammy accounts, only with a particular account, in time patterns that suggest coordination etc)

Framedl (PRO) likes are now worth less, at least in terms of rewards. They of course resemble coordinated efforts to game the leaderboards. Are they? I don’t think so. Framedl is a great mini app that built a core community and members engage. It’s a perfect example how real engagement is down graded. Do I blame FC/v/merkle? I don’t. I couldn’t care less about 3 USD. But it shows that every change will have downsides as well.

The more I think about it, the less it makes sense. If channels are a central feature of your product, then this circular engagement is normal and might even be the goal. Looking forward to the results and if my gut feeling is wrong.
