okay I’ll bite

for us layman can someone explain why some updates can be forced via a simple “restart” notification and others need to be updated via the App Store ?

what kind of update specifically would be in one category or the other

 I like to learn

I’d assume the restart notifications are updates to the web app part. Probably react.js updates. 

Larger app modifications require App Store updates.
