Sekisei Lagoon in Okinawa is experiencing severe coral bleaching, with 92.8% of the coral affected and over half of the reef dying.
This is a major threat to the ecosystem, especially since Okinawa hosts around 415 of the world's 800 coral species.
However, a startup called "Sea Seed" is working with local fishermen to tackle this issue by farming and transplanting heat-resistant corals to restore the reefs. This collaboration offers hope for preserving Okinawa's coral ecosystem.
