The Dagger of Princess Ita – Daughter of Pharaoh Amenemhat II A ceremonial treasure from the Middle Kingdom of ancient Egypt (12th Dynasty, c. 1914–1879 BC), the dagger of Princess Ita was discovered in her tomb, located near the pyramid of Pharaoh Amenemhat II at Dahshur. The blade is forged from bronze, attached to a solid gold hilt via three gold studs. The handle is made of hammered gold, inlaid with discs of blue lapis lazuli, green feldspar and light brown carnelian, decorated with cross-shaped patterns in fine gold thread. The crescent-shaped hilt is made from lapis lazuli.
