Before church last Sunday in San Francisco, a group of us talked about personal money codes. How much to give, to whom, and how that shifts over time. Our answers varied, but we shared the same core belief: Money isn’t really ours. Not in any lasting way. This is shared across all spiritual traditions. Whether it's stewardship, purification, non-attachment, or sharing, the idea is that what we receive is meant to move through us. I've cleared the belongings of loved ones after they passed. I'm sure many of you have too. Objects lose meaning. Money finds new hands. Rewards here are trivial to some, and put food on the table for others. Like in life, money and attention here can never be evenly distributed. What is "equal" anyway, when there are so many competing needs? I’ve been redistributing all I receive here. The way money moves fluidly in this space due to its technology and culture is joyful and holy to me. In a world that teaches us to hold on tight, we get to know what it feels like to let go.

Love this, and really appreciate the thought you put into your casts (and obviously appreciate making your list this week, thank you!). Particularly love this line: "the idea is that what we receive is meant to move through us" It's so applicable to everything: money, ideas, love. We can multiply them all by passing it on. It's how the world/humanity moves forward and grows and progresses.
