Power Cut Hits Cannes During Film Festival A big power outage hit southern France on Saturday, cutting electricity to about 160,000 homes including in Cannes, where the famous film festival is ending. Officials say the outage may have been caused on purpose. A fire and damaged power pole are being looked into as sabotage. Even with no power, the festival continued. Backup generators kept the shows going, and the closing ceremony will happen as planned.
