Maradona Trial Judge Steps Down A judge has left the trial over Diego Maradona’s death. Judge Julieta Makintach was removed after a lawyer said she might not be neutral. He also claimed she let a documentary be filmed during court. Makintach admitted her brother works at the production company involved, but said it had nothing to do with Maradona. She defended herself, saying, I am fair and neutral. The trial had already paused for a week to look into this issue. It was requested by the lawyer of Leopoldo Luque, one of the doctors charged. Maradona, who helped Argentina win the 1986 World Cup, died in 2020. Eight medical workers are charged with causing his death. Seven are on trial now, and one more will face a jury later.
