I know it's hard for bigger companies to prune numerous candidates but you can always tell when you speak with someone twice.

It's a take I'm inclined to side with. 😩

But to be fair, the Pope is an in-house promotion chosen after years of committment to the mission of the 'organization'. Not the same as taking a bet on a random hire. 

Still on the side of abolishing >3 round interviews though.
