Carved through rock by thousands of hands… The Titus Tunnel was built not for glory, but to protect a harbor from nature itself.
Brief history (EN):
The Titus Tunnel was constructed during the Roman period in the 1st century CE near the ancient city of Seleucia Pieria. Ordered under Emperor Vespasian and completed during the reign of Titus, the tunnel redirected floodwaters to prevent the harbor from filling with sediment. It remains one of the most impressive Roman engineering projects in Anatolia.

Kısa tarihçe (TR):
Titus Tüneli, MS 1. yüzyılda Roma döneminde Seleukeia Pieria yakınlarında inşa edilmiştir. İmparator Vespasianus döneminde başlatılmış, Titus zamanında tamamlanmıştır. Amaç, limanın sel ve alüvyonla dolmasını engellemekti. Anadolu’daki en etkileyici Roma mühendislik yapılarından biridir.
