Brief history (EN): The Titus Tunnel was constructed during the Roman period in the 1st century CE near the ancient city of Seleucia Pieria. Ordered under Emperor Vespasian and completed during the reign of Titus, the tunnel redirected floodwaters to prevent the harbor from filling with sediment. It remains one of the most impressive Roman engineering projects in Anatolia.
