Every sunset here still echoes with ancient thought. Brief history (EN): Founded in the 7th century BCE, Assos became one of the most influential cities of ancient Aeolis. The philosopher Aristotle established a school here and lived in the city for several years. Known for its Temple of Athena, impressive city walls, and breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea, Assos flourished through the Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine periods. Buradaki her gün batımı, antik düşüncenin izlerini taşır. Kısa tarihçe (TR): MÖ 7. yüzyılda kurulan Assos, Antik Aiolis'in en önemli kentlerinden biri hâline gelmiştir. Ünlü filozof Aristoteles burada bir felsefe okulu kurmuş ve birkaç yıl yaşamıştır. Athena Tapınağı, güçlü surları ve Ege Denizi'ne hâkim konumuyla Helenistik, Roma ve Bizans dönemlerinde önemini korumuştur.
