We're running a bunch of experiments with onboarding different types of people 1. @ted has been working onboarding different types / groups of people 2. Recent examples have been 1) Crypto the Game 2) journalists 3) other onchain ecosystems 3. We've also been spending a lot of time talking to users who are 1) cryptonative 2) previously onboarded to Farcaster 3) are active on X / Twitter 4) don't have massive audiences there. There's been a bunch of good feedback and some recent features, e.g. trending follow notifications, have been based on this.

This is the first event (see linked cast for context) Neynar has hosted since we started the company almost 2 years ago. We were always so tied up in building that we never got around to doing things like this. As a result, I was expecting maybe a dozen people to show up, with it being our first hangout and all. However, because y'all are fantastic people, we have had a 130+ folks register! Excited to see everyone. Similarly surprised by how stellar the speaker applications are (get ready to hear some of the best teams in crypto talk about their work)! Which brings me to 👇🏽 This is the last week to apply as a speaker for the Neynar x USV Farcon event. We're working on improving onboarding 1. Investigating how to make sign ups cheaper at the protocol level. Free is not possible because of spam. But we think there's a path to getting sign ups <$1. 2. Simplifying the Warpcast sign up process—fewer steps and the possibility for free sign ups if you verify your account (Warpcast still pays at the protocol level). 3. Improving the initial feed — a combination of better UX for finding people to follow and incorporating interests selected during sign up. 4. Once we've tackled all of the above, we will revisit invite UX which is suboptimal right now.

Bybit Exchange Hack In February 2025, Dubai-based cryptocurrency exchange Bybit suffered a massive security breach, resulting in the theft of 400,000 Ethereum tokens, valued at approximately $1.5 billion. This incident is considered the largest cryptocurrency exchange hack to date. The attack has been attributed to the Lazarus Group, a North Korean state-sponsored hacking collective known for targeting cryptocurrency platforms to fund the nation's missile and nuclear programs WazirX Exchange Breach On July 18, 2024, Indian cryptocurrency exchange WazirX experienced a significant security breach, leading to the loss of approximately $234.9 million in investor funds. The hackers exploited vulnerabilities in the exchange's multisignature wallet system, gaining unauthorized access and transferring the assets to new addresses. The Lazarus Group was identified as the perpetrator behind this attack
